Deep-Dek® Composite Span Limits
(Based on continuous slab design)

- Requires negative reinforcement bars centered over supports. Contact Metal Dek Group Engineering for bar size and spacing. 35'-0" application limit set by Metal Dek Group Engineering
- The span limits are based on a failure mode of the deck. Failure modes include deck yielding, concrete failure or deflection. Design assumes that sufficient negative reinforcement is available to meet the required capacity. Spans are based on two span continuous slab design.
- Spans shall be approximately equal in length with the larger of the two adjacent spans not greater than the shorter by more than 20%. (per ACI 318-99/8.3.3)
- Span limit based on service loading requirements. Balance of span limits are based on shoring constraints. Shoring shall be placed at equal distances over length of span.
- Concrete properties: Density = 145 PCF, Compressive strength = 4,000PSI
- Deflection limit: L/240 superimposed total load, L/360 superimposed live load (per IBC Table 1604.3)
- Minimum bearing width: 2" at end bearing and 6" at shoring beams.
- Temperature/shrinkage reinforcement, full field: WWF 6x6 - W2.9 x W2.9
